The Mill Creek Fire began on the Hoopa Reservation on Wednesday, October 7, 2009. The fire has been turned back to local units. The fire has been burning in old grown and timber plantations and as of Tuesday morning (10/13) had burned 2,750 acres. 1 fire crew and 5 engines are still assigned. The terrain is rough and steep, so firefighter safety is paramount. There are no structures near the fire area. Percent of containment remains low due to increase in fire growth. Heavy demobilization occurred on Monday due to predicted rain. There are 95 personnel assigned to the fire. |
