The Solomon Basin Fire was started by lightning on Thursday July 30 and is being managed for resource benefits. The fire is located approximately 11 miles northeast of Fremont, Utah on the Fremont River Ranger District. Even though cooler weather has arrived in central Utah, the Solomon Basin Fire continues to exhibit moderate fire behavior and growth. Afternoon high temperatures and winds have contributed to recent increase in acres burned. Forest officials have lifted the closure in the Meeks Lake area, however the closure on the portion of the Great Western Trail through the fire remains in effect. |
